Emergency Preparedness

Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 19th at 11:00am when the Mendon Fire Department will be on hand to review the basics everyone should have in place in case of a natural disaster.  Please call the Mendon Senior Center at 508-478-6175 to register for this free program so we can plan to have enough materials on hand.  Why not invite a friend and join us for lunch afterwards?  The menu is Salmon with dill sauce, mashed potatoes and peas & pearl onions. The cost for lunch is $3.00 per person and reservations must be made forty-eight hours in advance. Come be our guest! Thank you.


Line Dancing with Georgia

Georgia Dean Young, long time dance instructor in Mendon, will be offering a free  line dancing class on Friday, Sept. 22nd at 10:30am at the Mendon Senior Center open to all. Please call or stop by the center to register for this fun, free program.


Tri-Valley Nutrition Presentation: Pro-Biotics

On Tuesday, Sept. 26th at 11:00am Tri-Valley’s dietician Mary Brunelle, RD, LDN will return to the Mendon Senior Center to discuss the importance of Pro-biotics.  “Feeding Your Gut” will focus on building a healthy digestive environment.  There will be recipes, samples and prizes!  Stop by the senior center or call 508-478-6175 to reserve your seat.  And why not consider joining us for our regular Tri-Valley lunch following the presentation.  Please make a lunch reservation separately.  The menu includes everyone’s favorite: hot dog, baked beans and cole slaw. The presentation is free.  The cost for lunch is $3.00 per person.


Flu Shot Clinic ~  Friday, Oct. 6th          Open to the Public

The Mendon Board of Health will be sponsoring the annual seasonal Flu Shot Clinic administered by the VNA of Greater Milford on Friday, October 6th from 9:00-10:30am at the Mendon Senior Center. These flu shot/H1N1 vaccines are for all Mendon residents ages 6 months and older including senior citizens, pregnant women and individuals at high risk. Please call or drop by the Center to pre-register. There is no fee for the vaccine. However, please be sure to bring your insurance and Medicare cards (or copies) to the clinic. Pneumonia vaccines ARE NOT available at this clinic. Thank you.



Register Now!  The Mendon Senior Center is coordinating senior volunteers for the LPN program of Blackstone Valley Technical School to attend their Aging Well Day on Thursday, Nov. 9th from 8:00am to 2:00pm. This free program will allow the nursing students of Blackstone Valley Technical School in Upton to put their skills to use on live human beings, not simply mannequins.  In addition, the staff will offer a light breakfast and delicious lunch with your choice of entrĂ©e after completing the morning program.  Past participants can’t say enough about this thorough medical review.  Please call Amy Wilson Kent Director at the Mendon Senior Center at 508-478-6175 to register.  Space is limited and your help is appreciated. 


Wellness Support Group                                                                                                                                            The Mendon Senior Center is offering a free wellness support group to help improve the quality of life for seniors as part of its Outreach Program. The group is led by Outreach Worker Janet Hubener and Program Director Gail Bourassa, and focuses on learning strategies for coping with stress. The group is generally held twice a month—on the second and fourth Thursdays. In Sept. join us on 9/28 at 10:30am.  Following in October we will meet at a new time: 1:00pm.  In October  the group will meet on the following dates: 10/12 and 10/26. This day trip, not to be missed, features the terrific Edward Twins, Ocean Drive Sightseeing Tour, Full Buffet Luncheon and Luxury Silver Fox Motor Coach.
